It’s Time to Embrace the Now
If we don’t find happiness where we are right now, how can we ever be truly happy? It took me a long time to understand this, but learning to be present and mindful has shown me that we are often living in the answered prayers of our past selves.
Looking back, I realize how many things I’ve taken for granted. I spent so much time wishing for a better future that I failed to appreciate the beauty of the present. I used to reminisce over old memories, thinking they were simpler or happier times, but I wasn’t fully present back then either—I was always wishing for more.
Recently, I came across a post on Pinterest that said, “Don’t look back; you aren’t going that way!” It struck a chord with me. While reflecting on the past can offer perspective, it’s the here and now that truly matters. When I stopped to think about it, I realized so many of the things I once wished for are already mine. I’m walking into spaces I never imagined I could, and for that, I am deeply grateful.
The Power of Gratitude
One of the simplest but most powerful practices I’ve adopted is listing three things I’m grateful for each day. Gratitude keeps us grounded, reminding us of the abundance in our lives rather than the lack. It doesn’t have to be grand—maybe it’s the warmth of the sun, a kind word from a stranger, or even a meal shared with loved ones.
This habit has helped me see the beauty in the little things and appreciate the blessings I already have. I encourage you to try it! Write down three things every day and watch how it shifts your perspective.
Be Patient With Yourself
It’s easy to feel frustrated when things don’t go as planned, but remember: you are exactly where you’re meant to be. Life is a journey, and every experience—whether joyful or challenging—has something to teach us.
I truly believe that everything happens in divine timing. You don’t need to have all the answers right now. Trust your intuition, lean on God’s word, and allow yourself to grow through the process.
Challenge Negative Thoughts
Our minds naturally gravitate toward self-doubt, but we don’t have to let those thoughts dictate our reality. Recently, I’ve been studying for a new career, and it’s been both exciting and intimidating. My brain often whispers, “You can’t do this. You’re going to fail.”
But I’ve learned to challenge those thoughts. When my mind says, “You’re going to fail,” I ask myself, “What proof do I have of that?” The truth is, I’ve never done this before, so how could I know the outcome? Instead, I choose to tell myself: “I won’t fail if I give my best effort. I am capable of learning and growing.”
The more I practice reframing my thoughts, the more confident I feel. You can do the same—remind yourself that your brain doesn’t always tell the truth, and you have the power to choose your beliefs.
Affirmations to Uplift Your Spirit
Positive affirmations are a wonderful way to speak life into yourself. Here are some to get you started:
- I can do hard things.
- I am strong and resilient.
- I am living in answered prayers.
- With God by my side, no one can stand against me.
- I am deserving of happiness and success.
- I have the strength to overcome any challenge.
Say these affirmations aloud, and let their truth sink in.
Protect Your Joy
Not everyone will celebrate your happiness, and that’s okay. When you’re shining, there will always be those who try to dim your light. But remember: no weapon formed against you shall prosper. Don’t let negativity make you forget how far you’ve come or how blessed you are.
You are meant to be here, exactly as you are. You are doing amazing things, taking steps toward a brighter future, and growing into the best version of yourself. You are seen, you are loved, and you are enough.
Find Joy in This Season
Take a moment today to reflect: What are three things you’re grateful for? Write them down, say them out loud, or share them with a loved one. Gratitude is the key to finding joy and love in the season you’re in.
It’s time to embrace the now. Happiness isn’t something in the distant future—it’s already here, waiting for you to notice it.
